MANILA, Philippines — Action fans are in for an adrenaline-packed cinematic experience as "The Furious" arrives in Philippine cinemas on July 1.
Directed by martial arts maestro Kenji Tanigaki, who did the action choreography of "John Wick," the film was highly-praised by DC Studios boss James Gunn.
"I didn't think that Tanigaki could outdo himself after the spectacular 'Waller In,' but man, 'The Furious' really showed him as one of the best action filmmakers working," the filmmaker said.
Gunn was so impressed by the film that he reportedly brought members of the cast and crew of "Superman" to watch it, later expressing how much he enjoyed the movie.

"The Furious" was also dubbed by critics and reviewers as the best replacement of the aforementioned "John Wick." The film even scored a near-perfect rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Other positive reviews describe the movie as "Looney Tunes in a slaughterhouse," "lizard-brain ass-kicking done about as well as you could hope," and "a must-see for anyone with a taste for ferocious pandemonium."
The film stars Xie Mia, Joe Taslim, and Yang Enyou with an ensemble supporting cast that includes Brian Le, Joey Iwanaga, Yayan Ruhian, Jeeja Yanin, and Sahajak Boonthanakit.
