The members of Metallica are known for giving back. That’s why they have their All Within My Hands charity foundation, named after their popular song by the same name.
Now, in conjunction with the charity, Metallica have announced the details for their eighth year of the band’s Metallica Scholars Initiative.
The program works to aid workforce education for community and technical college students. It will give a grant of more than $3.3 million to over 90 schools. That’s a life-changing figure.
So, what’s new in 2026? This year’s campaign also includes the first international Metallica Scholars partner, the Capital City College Group in the U.K.
“This thing started as a dream,” Metallica vocalist James Hetfield said in a statement provided to Newsweek. “Now our program is changing lives. To expand our impact on a global scale and support even more students is so rewarding.”
He adds, “We’re so proud of all the Metallica Scholars who have come through it and all the ones who will participate in it. It’s humbling to know we’ve been part of the journey of thousands of trade professionals doing good, hard work in the world.”
“All Within My Hands is a non-profit, philanthropic organization created in 2017 by the members and management of Metallica, dedicated to creating sustainable communities by supporting workforce education, the fight against hunger and other critical local services,” the organization says of its mission statement on its official website.
All Within My Hands has also helped with critical local services, such as when areas are hurting from natural disasters like wildfires, hurricanes and earthquakes. “The need for disaster relief comes in many forms,” their statement adds.
Those who want more information on the Scholars Initiative can find it on the All Within My Hands website.
